Vaughn Frick is the President and founder of Ashbec LLC, a management research and consulting firm based in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.  In 2010, Mr. Frick was awarded a US Patent for TOPS, a method and system designed to eliminate preventable medical error in a hospital inpatient setting.  Prior to starting Ashbec LLC, Mr. Frick was a Group Vice President for Gartner Inc. in the Research division.  He has over 30 years of business experience.  His areas of specialization include performance management, organizational change management, total cost of ownership, knowledge management, and business transformation.  He is an internationally known speaker, lecturer and author.

Mr. Frick's education includes bachelors and masters degrees in Industrial & Operations Engineering from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Mr. Frick started his professional career as a research analyst and software engineer. As his skills and abilities became recognized, he rose to become responsible for educating US-based consultants in analysis and design methods for one of the most prestigious management consulting firms in the world. Over the next 15 years, he moved beyond process automation into performance management. Starting with business process reengineering, Mr. Frick leveraged his analysis and design skills along with his leadership abilities to help client organizations build competitive advantage through performance improvement and organizational change management. As a Group Vice President at Gartner (generally regarded as the premier IT research organization in the world), Mr. Frick helped clients track the state-of-the-art in business performance management. He has managed business units for larger organizations and had total responsibility for small businesses. He can lead an organization through a change process that helps them achieve their shared objectives. This could involve improving business process execution in any industry. Formalizing this change process into a repeatable management process allows the organization to compete successfully in a changing environment over long periods.

Recently Mr. Frick has focused his background in analysis, applied technology and organizational change to the problems facing the healthcare industry. A key focus of Ashbec's activities has been researching methods for reducing the cost and improving the quality of healthcare in the United States. This work has been integrated into the definition of the patented Treatment Optimization for Patient Safety (TOPS) .
